The last of the sunny days in the UK apparently - fingers crossed the weatherman's wrong! Had an entire swarm of bees round the house at one point today - having a rest whilst travelling through I guess. Maybe they were after me for eating all their honey!
Gut started with bloating and pain at 5am.... not a great time to be up... got to see the sunrise though.
I lied on my drug chart yesterday - I had forgotten to take the probiotics. Maybe that is where the problems came from.
Everything's calmed down over today though. I have avoided raw veg, though did eat a mango tonight - it's so slippery though! It can't be that hard to digest!
That cinnamon bread I made yesterday really is lovely. You can really fill up on it too as it has substance! I highly recommend it.
Big law topic to cover tomorrow so I am going to get an early night...
Sleep well.
Drugs: 2.4g Asacol, 2g Pentasa, 10mg Prednisolone, 1 sachet VSL#3
Food: Breakfast: 2 slices of cinnamon and raisin bread Lunch: Vegetable and bacon soup, Cheese omelette Dinner: Lamb kebab, stir fried vegetables, Mango in orange juice with pistachio nuts Snacks: Lemon meringue pie
Hello Charlie, hope tomorrow is better for you. I can't wait to make this cinnamon bread !
ReplyDeleteWe are in for 4 days of rain here in Canada, too (at least in my province), yech ! I,Ll have time to wash and store the winter stuff, there's still snow on the ground but the rain is probably gonna take care of that !
Take care !
The symptoms are so mild that they really don't bother me... but I thought it would be good to record them, for my own benefit. Then I can look back and see how it is going.
ReplyDeleteSeems a lot better today.
Can't believe you guys still have snow! All the spring flowers are up here.
You must be off intro diet now. Has it got rid of all the symptoms? Are you on lots of drugs? I know you are being more careful than me about introducing foods... what did you go for first?

I am currently on prednisone (30mg), and Mesalamine 4.8 a day. I also take probiotics, and will start vitamins as soon as they are delivered to my home.
ReplyDeleteI am almost symptom-free since the 2nd day I started the prednisone (at 50 mg)which was a weird, weird feeling, but I decided to start the diet anyways and not wait until I was almost weaned off prednisone. So I can't say ''hey the diet works !'' because I'm still on a fairly high dose of cortisone
I did the intro diet for 3 days, and since then I've added squash, then bananas, and now, spinach. I try to wait 2-3 days before I introduce a new food. I know it'a a little crazy... Since everything is okay, I think I will speed up the process a bit because I'm becoming bored with eating the same thing over and over. I cook my veggies thoroughly. I do vary the proteins (beef, pork, veal, chicken, turkey, salmon, shrimp, eggs) I compile everything in a journal (excel file) along with my level of stress, pain, BMs, meds, etc.
If everything goes well I will add dairy (and SCD yogourt) and almond flour in a couple of weeks, maybe sooner if I continue to lose so much weight and remain symptom free.
Next in line : zucchini and homemade almond milk, then I will move onto phase 2. This is based on the SCD lifestyle book, I am aware this is not the only way to do this diet, but this is the path I chose. Their stages look a lot like those on pecanbread http://www.pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html#beyond (actually they based them on pecanbread, where they say teh stages are not mandatory)
Bye and take care ! :)
p.s I also take 1 tsp of flax oil and concentrated high EPA omega 3 supplements (3 g a day)
